MGS Progetti has expanded its filter tap range with a secondary, all-stainless steel filter tap, the VELA DF.

Based upon one of MGS's most successful kitchen tap designs, the VELA DF is a monobloc tap that features a fully integrated, dual flow system for dispensing hot, cold and filtered drinking water from the same spout but with dedicated waterways. Hot and cold flows are selected by using the lever on the tap's right side, whilst the left side's shorter lever is used for selecting filtered water.

The VELA DF is connected to an undersink filtration system which, in keeping with the MGS policy of manufacturing only from premium grade stainless steel, uses a stainless steel cartridge housing and a superior quality, British-made ceramic and carbon filter cartridge.

Stephen Rinaldi, one of the three founders of MGS and the company's managing director commented "A filter tap such as the VELA DF can't fail to make sense - in addition to the convenience of having an unlimited flow of filtered drinking water straight from your kitchen tap, there's also a huge saving to be made on the cost of bottled water. And of course, a filter tap is also a much greener, environmentally-friendly purchase as well."

The VELA has another significant advantage – it is one of an elite number of products to be accredited to the NSF revised Standard 61, Annex G. The revisions were implemented in the USA in January of this year and include the requirement that the maximum lead content of taps, valves, water fittings and any other products that come into contact with drinking water is just ≤ 0.25 percent. Although yet to be introduced in Europe and the UK, the NSF is a globally respected with vast influence and the move has prompted many manufacturers to investigate how they can reduce materials that contain lead from taps and their associated components.

The new VELA DF also raises the bar when it comes to the type of filter cartridge it uses. Packaged with the tap as a complete system, the British-manufactured cartridge combines both ceramic and carbon to deliver optimum filtration and is capable of removing a wide range of possible contaminants, including heavy metals, chlorine, dirt, cysts and harmful pathogenic bacteria such as Cryptosporidium.
